It turns out it's not the adapter cord that's fucked up; it's the place it plugs in to the laptop itself, which is a very old model. That means that I've spent most of my day hunting for a Universal... thingus, the word escapes me right now, that would let me power the laptop from a place that it would plug in on the bottom.

This hunt has proven futile. Not even eBay has one that would support the Lagtop. I haven't stopped looking, but thinks look grim. I'm going to see what I can do about getting the stories I had saved on the Lagtop saved onto something I CAN access

So it's a good thing I didn't get enough warning to go to my mother's wedding. This means I might be able to do what I'm thinking of doing.

I'm going to try and get a new laptop. At Best Buy, I found one that was MUCH nicer than the Lagtop on sale for about 400$ after tax. Sadly, my finances fall about 175$ short.

I'm sure you all see where this is going.

If anyone out there feels willing and can spare a few dollars towards my ongoing sanity, it would be much appriciated. I come to you, my friends and loyal readers, hat in hand and sad puppy eyes open wide. I don't expect anything from anyone, but, to take Tennesse Williams horribly out of context, I have always depended on the kindness of strangers.
