“You cannot go,” Dorrek said firmly, both hands resting on Billy’s shoulders. “I forbid it.”

Billy chuckled weakly, resting one hand on top of the runaway prince’s. “I don’t want to go, either. But this is... is something I’ve got to do. Otherwise, the other mages might get really worried, and that, I assure you, would be a very bad thing.”

“If you don’t want to go, then don’t. Stay with me.” He buried his face in Billy’s dark hair. “Do not leave me. I need you.”

“I’m sorry. I’ll be back from Agatha’s in a few weeks.”

“I could come with you,” Dorrek suggested.

Billy shook his head silently. “I’ll come back as soon as I can. And I’m not going anywhere until I have to.” Billy brushed his lips across Dorrek’s lightly. “Stay with me tonight.”
