“That one hits the ball... then what?” Dorrek asked, his eyes flicking back and forth between Billy and the men on the field below.

“The guys on the other team try to catch the ball while it’s still in the air. If they do, then the one who hit the ball is out,” Billy explained.

“Which means he may no longer help his team score, yes?”

“Mm-hm. If they don’t catch the ball, the batter will try to steal the bases-”

“But he does not actually pick them up.”

“Just running to them. If the runner is tagged with the ball by the other team, he’s out. If he manages to run all the way back to home plate, his team scores a point.”

Dorrek stood up, studying the men on the field with a slight frown. “I believe I get it,” he told Billy, chewing thoughtfully on a hot dog as he sat back down.

“Great. We’re so gonna kick the X-Men’s asses next month.”
