Teddy peered around the door, into the kitchen as his mother puttered around, trying to make blueberry pancakes. It was impossible to tell that not all that long ago, she had almost been burned alive by the Super-Skrull. She paused, meeting Teddy’s eyes for barely a moment before looking away. “Morning.”

“Hi.” Teddy slipped into the tiny kitchen, still watching her. Some small part of him half expected to suddenly slip into her… he guessed it was her real appearance. Her Skrull appearance. But she stayed blonde and human and ordinary.

“Pancakes? They’re blueberry. Your favorite,” she added hesitantly.

“Sounds good… Mom.”

She smiled, but just for a moment.
