Prince Dorrek peered out the window, studying his view of the Avengers Mansion’s lush garden. The room he was in was small, at least by his standards, but showed the signs of someone putting thought into it’s decoration.
He had to admit, it was a vast improvement over the bare, cell like room he’d been staying in since he had come to Earth, the Maximoff boy in tow.
Of course, it made perfect sense to Dorrek that he would be held in such a place. He was, after all, a scion of two raced that had often caused trouble for Earth’s champions, and now here he was with a small squad of soldiers at his back, asking for sanctuary.
He hadn’t been allowed to speak with his men for more than a few minutes since their arrival, and he was never left alone with them.
But he was the son of one of their own, and he had returned Billy Maximoff to his family, so he had two strikes in his favor. So now Dorrek had the freedom of the grounds. He was sure he would soon be able to gain more privileges.
And when Grandfather came, Dorrek would have the Avengers on his side.
Movement out in the garden caught Dorrek’s eye, drawing it to Billy Maximoff. He was out there with his older cousin, the half-Inhuman girl who’s name Dorrek couldn’t remember. The boy gesticulated wildly before throwing himself on the bench, his point made. He then looked up and spotted Dorrk. Billy waved, and Dorrek found himself waving back.
***
"You think he’s nummy," Luna accused as Billy’s hand dropped back to his lap. Her cousin’s face flushed scarlet, and he refused to look at her. "You do! You’ve got the hots for Skrull-Boy!"
"His name’s Dorrek and shut up," Billy said.
"He pulled a Knight in Shining Armor and now you’re swooning!" Luna teased.
"It’s not like that, and shut up!"
"If you kiss him, will he turn into a frog? I bet he could if you asked…"
"I hate you, Lou."
